Creation Process

Originally I wanted to make a game based on my TTRPG but after coming up with more concepts, I went in a completely different direction by making a game about cute aliens stuck on Earth instead! My goals for this project as mentioned in another post was to focus on visuals and make the game at the very least, playable. By making the prototype, I achieved both of these things as I was able to make the majority of my own assets, the only borrowed one being a free tileset (Sunny Land by Ansimuz). It is also worth mentioning that before this project, I've had very little experience using pixel art software, so learning how to use that was also an interesting time.  As someone who enjoys making characters, I spent most of the time designing the main characters and enemies, though I was not able to add most of them due to the amount of time it took me to make the rest of the game. I also managed to make the game playable by following various tutorials on Youtube and by asking some more experienced friends for advice. Oddly enough, I found coding very tedious but very rewarding and enjoyable by the end of this process.  Despite it being rewarding, I definitely need to learn how to be more patient with it and continue practicing.

I believe that I achieved my goals for this project and even managed to practice some of my animation skills while making the trailer (honestly the most difficult part of this process, surprisingly). I would like to continue designing games, however I would still like to stick more towards the visual side of things.
